# How to check preferences

The behavior of the Connector sometimes depends on the values that are filled in the Spotfire preferences by administrators during the installation. To better understand these behaviors it is useful to be able to access these preferences.

To check the preferences applied to your user, in the Analyst go to **Help > Support diagnostics and logging > Preferences**. In this tab there are two columns:

- The **Name** column concatenates the section, subsection and name of a preference (Section.SubSection.PreferenceName). Note that in this documentation, when we refer to a preference, we usually use only its name.
- The **Value** column contains the value of the preferences for your user.

To find a specific preference of the Connector, scroll down until you see **DiscngineLiveDesignConnector**. You will have all the Connector preferences listed here. Then simply check the value in the Value column.
