When opening the SWAPP in Web Player, you can be unable to open the default analysis.

Details

If you try to open a document in Web Player and have the following error message The task could not be completed. Unable to open analysis <path of the analysis>., it may mean that the document has not been correctly closed during a previous Spotfire session and its state is invalid.

When opening the SWAPP from scratch in Web Player, a default analysis is opened and as described previously, may fail to reopen.

Resolution

To fix the issue of a document having an invalid state...:

  • Close all tabs with this document opened in your browser.
  • Go to the Spotfire library and look for your document.
    • The path is available in the error message (for the SWAPP the default one is Discngine > Client Automation > empty).
  • Copy the web link of your document
    • From the library web interface, click on "Copy link"
    • From the analysis interface, click on "Copy link to item > For web clients"

  • Paste the link in a new tab of your browser and add &applyState=false at the end.
    • E.g. https://spotfire.discngine.com/spotfire/wp/OpenAnalysis?file=9ef5dfa2-b11f-4716-817f-1c498f1e7c7c&applyState=false
  • The document should now open correctly.

...In the context of the SWAPP:

  • Close the document through File > Close.
  • Try again to open the SWAPP.
