# License Types

Overview

The Admin Center supports three licence types. The type controls how access to an application is granted and how it is counted across your organisation. Discngine allocates a licence to your organisation for a given application (the licence pool); you then assign it to users and groups.

The three types

Global

An organisation-wide licence with unlimited users.

• No cap on the number of users — every member of the organisation can access the application.
• No quantity to declare.
• Best for enterprise-wide deployments where most users need access.

Named User

An individual, per-user licence explicitly assigned to specific users.

• A fixed number of seats is allocated to your organisation.
• Each seat must be assigned to a user or to a group.
• A user who belongs to several groups carrying the same licence is counted once.
• Can carry a start and end date.
• Best for controlled access or smaller populations with a specific contract count.

Credit

A consumption-based pool of credits shared among users.

• Credits are consumed as users perform actions or use resources.
• Has a declared quantity, and can carry a start and end date.
• Can be assigned to users or groups for flexible allocation.
• Best for pay-per-use applications or variable usage patterns.

Multiple licences per application

Your organisation can hold several licences of different types for the same application at once — for example a Named User licence for a specific module alongside a Global licence for the base application. Each licence in the pool carries its own type and quantity.

Who does what

• Discngine sizes the licence pool for your organisation: the type, the quantity and expiration dates. If you need more seats or credits, contact Discngine.
• Organisation Administrators and Application Administrators view the allocated licences and assign licences to users and groups.
